Squire Sanders partner Aneca Lasley has been named to Columbus Business First’s “Forty Under 40” Class of 2014, which recognizes professionals who demonstrate outstanding business ethics, work for the betterment of the community, and possess exemplary leadership skills.
“This is a well-deserved honor for Aneca and we couldn’t be more proud of her,” said Alex Shumate, Squire Sanders Managing Partner for North America. “One defining characteristic of Aneca is her passion for people. I’ve witnessed this firsthand through her work as a litigator and trial lawyer, exceptional attention to client service, and unwavering commitment to the community of Columbus. She personifies the values of this firm and has the drive and talent to become the next generation of leaders for Squire Sanders.”
Now in its 22nd year, the award honors Central Ohio's best and brightest stars, reviewed upon criteria including career achievements, professional development, community involvement, and other industry distinctions. Ms. Lasley is one of only five lawyers to appear on the list, which includes leaders spanning academia, healthcare, finance, and non-profit.
Ms. Lasley quickly established herself as a talented and positive force in the Squire Sanders community, and was promoted to partner after only seven years as an associate. She plays an instrumental role in the firm’s associate mentoring and hiring programs. As a litigator and trial lawyer, Ms. Lasley brings exceptional legal skill to her work and has tried and won many significant bet-the-company trials on behalf of clients, including The American Chemical Society v. Leadscope, Inc. et al, a US$20 million trade secret jury trial in favor of Squire Sanders’ clients, the founders of Leadscope.
In addition to her active legal practice and leadership on various firm committees, Ms. Lasley devotes countless hours to supporting organizations she believes in. A champion of empowering women, she has focused the majority of her energies in taking leadership roles within organizations such as Women Lawyers of Franklin County, YWCA, The Women’s Fund of Central Ohio, Saks Fifth Avenue Key to the Cure, and Lean in Circle, as well as enacting change on the next generation of women in Ohio.
Awardees will be honored at a ceremony on May 29 at the Hollywood Casino Columbus and profiled in Columbus Business First’s May 30 edition.
