Responding to what some are claiming is a new trend in large municipal bond bid-rigging cases, some judges have been giving defendants no jail time or fines, DC Partner Andrew Friedman told Policy and Regulator Report (subscription required) that “every case has a different feel to it.” “This is a case where the U.S. government collected big fines from major corporations,” he said, also noting that several defendants had provided information to the federal government for seven or eight years. “That’s a high degree of cooperation,” Mr. Friedman added.
