In an interview with Politico, Senior Counsels and newly named Policy Co-chairs Sens. Trent Lott and John Breaux discussed their new roles and hopes for the leading practice. “We’re getting more directly involved, intimately involved in how that [policy] team works together and who the team is going to be and how we could merge our efforts with the tremendous efforts that the Squire Sanders legacy team had,” Sen. Lott told the publication. Sen. Breaux affirmed the co-chairs’ involvement in key areas, including recruiting. “We’re talking to people almost every day on recruiting, and particularly in health care it’s an exciting prospect for somebody who knows they can come in on the ground floor and really build a practice and a first-class law firm,” Sen. Breaux said, noting his own background in health care policy. “So we are aggressively recruiting in a number of areas, and the thing is we have a lot more to sell now.”
“We’ve got a good team and we’re going to continue to build on that team,” Sen. Lott stressed in the June 25, 2014 article.
The American Lawyer, Law360 and Reuters also carried news of the senators’ new leadership roles.
