The British-American Business Council of Northern California (BABC SF), part of the largest transatlantic business network in North America and the UK, announced that Squire Patton Boggs partner Nicholas Unkovic has been elected president of the Chapter for the 2014 -2016 term.
Unkovic succeeds Colin Brown, Vice President West Coast, Pcubed, Inc., who has presided over the organization for the past three years. Brown now serves as chairman of the 30-member Board of Directors.
“It is an honor to lead the BABC SF,” Unkovic said. “The organization is well-positioned for continued, meaningful growth. Our organization is a remarkably strong, vibrant and dynamic community of startups, small to medium enterprises and large multinational companies. With the United Kingdom now having the largest business presence in the Bay Area among European countries, and the prospect of a successful Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, my vision is to build on the revival and recent successes of the BABC brought about by Colin’s leadership and to further strengthen the economic ties between the United Kingdom and the Bay Area.”
Commenting on the election, Brown said: “The BABC takes the challenge of facilitating growth and creating practical business expansion opportunities for our member organizations very seriously. Under Nick’s leadership, and with the continued support and participation of our Board of Directors, we will continue to build the quality and diversity of our membership, our organizational leadership, as well as our programs and platforms for the benefit of all members.”
