Squire Patton Boggs has appointed Columbus partner Peter Pavarini and Denver partner Stephen Nash to co-lead its internationally recognized Healthcare Practice Group.

Mr. Pavarini has been with Squire Patton Boggs for more than 13 years, focusing on the representation of hospitals and other healthcare providers in a wide range of strategic, regulatory and transactional matters, particularly physician alignment models and the development of clinically integrated provider organizations. Mr. Pavarini has devoted his entire legal career to addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by healthcare regulatory reforms and marketplace trends.
On July 1, Mr. Pavarini will assume the role as President of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) for a one year team. He has served on its board of directors since 2006. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for healthcare since 1991 and has been recognized by his peers in numerous other surveys and directories. Throughout his career, Mr. Pavarini has contributed his time and creativity to numerous boards and commissions advancing the public’s interest in achieving equitable access to healthcare including the Affordable and Sustainable Health Care Project and Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation’s Charitable Organization Project. Before entering private law practice in 1981, Mr. Pavarini served as an Attorney-Advisor in the Office of General Counsel of the US Department of Health & Human Services in Washington DC.

Mr. Nash has represented health care organizations for more than 30 years. Mr. Nash counsels these organizations regarding governance, corporate, reimbursement, tax, privacy and security, antitrust, fraud and abuse, and other regulatory compliance issues. More recently, Mr. Nash has counseled various domestic and foreign government agencies on such diverse matters as supplemental payment protocols, the design of primary healthcare systems, privacy and security issues, and regulatory requirements for health insurance.
In addition to his transactional and regulatory work, Mr. Nash has over 20 years of experience representing hospitals in single provider and group appeals for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, and serves as a strategic advisor on Medicare, Medicaid and private payer matters such as coverage issues and payment methods. Mr. Nash also has substantial experience representing health information exchanges, including CORHIO, Colorado’s statewide health information exchange, as well as representing CIVHC, the administrator of Colorado’s state-wide all-payer claims database, or APCD.
