Squire Patton Boggs Peña Prieto Gamundi has been shortlisted as “Dominican Republic Law Firm of the Year” for Chambers Latin America Awards. The awards are based on research for the 2014 edition of Chambers Latin America: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, and given to local firms in each country and to the leading international players across the region. The awards reflect a law firm’s pre-eminence in key practice areas, while taking into account notable achievements over the past 12 months including outstanding work, impressive strategic growth, and excellence in client service. The winners of the awards will be announced at a ceremony on September 19, 2014, at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, Florida.

Squire Patton Boggs Peña Prieto Gamundi routinely handles some of the most noteworthy matters taking place in the Dominican Republic, including: representing the principal shareholders of Banco León in its successful integration with Centro Financiero BHD, S.A., owner of the Dominican Republic’s second largest bank, in the largest deal to date in the Dominican Republic’s financial sector; and acting for JP Morgan Securities LLC as sole initial purchaser in the successful issuance by Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI, S.A. of US$550 million of 9.250% Senior Secured Notes due 2019. The latter is considered the largest international bond offering, at the lowest interest rate, by a private corporation in the history of the Dominican Republic.

Earlier in the month, the Squire Patton Boggs’ Latin America practice group and several individual lawyers were also recognized by IFLR1000 2014, an annual guide to the world’s leading financial and corporate law firms.
