Squire Patton Boggs was one of the key sponsors of The Moonwalk London 2015, organized by Walk the Walk, one of the largest breast cancer charities in the UK. Through fundraising efforts and the support of clients and friends, the team raised nearly £20,000.
On Saturday 16 May, the team from all four UK offices walked through the night to cover half or full marathon distances in support of this important cause. In total, nearly 15,000 women and men took part in the Moonwalk, raising money and awareness for breast cancer. Walk the Walk, entering its 20th year next year, has grown into an international effort with other annual walks in Iceland, Paris, New York, Berlin and Peru among others.
Janette Lucas, Labor & Employment Partner who spearheaded the efforts, said: “Walk the Walk is an incredible organization and one that Squire Patton Boggs is delighted to have been able to support over the past 12 months, not only by taking part in the Moonwalk but also through various other fundraising events in the UK, France, Spain and most recently in New York. We are thrilled to have raised as much as we did for this important cause and are hugely grateful to all our colleagues, clients and friends who really have been so generous in helping us get there.”
Nina Barough CBE, Founder and Chief Executive of Walk the Walk Worldwide, said: “The iconic Moonwalk has been another great success this year with fundraising already tipped over £3 million. Walk the Walk could not achieve its aims without the support of our fundraisers and sponsors like Squire Patton Boggs. Through participating in The Moonwalk London and associated fundraising efforts with L.K. Bennett, their generous support will contribute towards research into cancer – important for all our future health – as well as helping those currently fighting breast cancer.”
