Squire Patton Boggs has hired Natasha Eckard Hammond, a longtime advisor to former US Speaker of the House John A. Boehner (R-OH), as an Advisor in its Public Policy Practice in Washington DC.
Ms Eckard Hammond served the former Speaker since 2006, most recently acting as Assistant to the Speaker for Policy where she developed and coordinated legislative strategies with a particular emphasis on transportation and agriculture. She was heavily involved in the 2014 Farm Bill over the two and a half years of its passage through Congress, successfully advocating the Speaker’s views over aspects of the Bill. She previously served in Mr Boehner’s Congressional office, rising to the position of Legislative Director with detailed oversight over transportation, agriculture, energy, environment and trade policy.
Senator Trent Lott, Co-Chair of the Public Policy Practice, said: “Tash will be an asset to our Public Policy Practice, especially given our growing base of clients in the transportation and agriculture sectors. We are delighted to be welcoming Tash to our team, who joins a great roster of recent hires.”
The Honorable John A. Boehner, former Speaker of the House, added: “This is an excellent hire for Squire Patton Boggs. Tash served on my staff for nearly a decade, and was one of my most dependable and reliable policy advisors. She knows these issues inside and out. She did an outstanding job during her years with my office, and it's great to know she'll now be bringing her years of policy experience and knowledge of the Hill to bear on behalf of Squire Patton Boggs and its clients."
“Squire Patton Boggs’ highly regarded reputation in public policy and impressive track record in areas including transportation, environment and energy, to name a few, made the firm a major draw for me,” Natasha Eckard Hammond noted. “I look forward to working closely with a number of global industry groups to meet the objectives of our clients.”
Natasha re-joins Senior Policy Advisor David Schnittger, the previous Deputy Chief of Staff to Speaker Boehner, who joined the firm in December 2014. Other recent additions to the firm’s Public Policy Practice include: defense and transportation expert Samuel Adcock from Airbus Helicopters Inc.; Wolfgang Maschek who was Senior Counsel and Vice-President for International Regulatory Affairs at Western Union; Katie Novaria from the United States House Committee on Energy and Commerce; Meg Gilley from the American College of Surgeons; and Genevieve Bresnahan from the Office of Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX).
