Squire Patton Boggs has announced the appointment of partner Scott Warren. Mr. Warren, the former general counsel for Sega and senior attorney at Microsoft Japan, is a specialist in cybersecurity and IP protection in Asia.
Mr. Warren has over 30 years’ experience in litigation, licensing and protecting intellectual property, and has spent over 20 years working across Asia on complex legal, regulatory and investigative matters. He was formerly Regional Managing Director for Asia Pacific of Kroll’s Legal Technology group at Kroll Ontrack, and more recently he was appointed by e-Discovery industry leader Epiq Systems to launch its operations in Japan. He has a track record of working throughout the region supporting local companies with their digital evidence, computer forensic and cyber security needs.
Mr. Warren is a member of the Executive Board of The Society for the Policing of Cyberspace (POLCYB), an organization which promotes cybersecurity through enhancing and developing global international partnerships to prevent, detect, and combat cyberspace crimes.
Stephen Chelberg, Asia Pacific Chair of the Global Corporate Practice at Squire Patton Boggs, said: “Scott’s arrival is significant in strengthening the portfolio of services we can offer to corporate clients in the rapidly expanding new area of cybersecurity, information privacy and data protection. Scott has considerable ‘hands-on’ experience of cyber and data issues from a technical and operational perspective, which will be invaluable to our clients and help the firm to expand its corporate relationships and forge new client connections.”
“We are very pleased to welcome Scott to the firm,” said Ken Kurosu, Asia Practice Coordinator and Tokyo Managing Partner. “His appointment will strengthen our local capability in this field, and also reinforce our expertise across Asia, particularly in the technology sector, but also more broadly. As so many other sectors are grappling with cybersecurity considerations, whether they be in policy, regulatory compliance or litigation, Scott will work widely across multiple sector groups to provide the expertise they require.”
