William J. Kishman has joined the Squire Patton Boggs Labor & Employment Practice Group as of counsel based in Cleveland, Ohio. He joins from Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP in Louisville, Kentucky.
Mr. Kishman represents businesses in matters involving both employees and labor unions. Mr. Kishman regularly litigates a broad variety of labor and employment matters, including labor arbitrations and National Labor Relations Board proceedings involving unfair labor practice charges and representation issues, wage and hour actions, and wrongful discharge cases. In recent years, he has won a range of cases, from a large-scale prevailing wage lawsuit brought by the US government to several labor arbitrations involving a nationwide manufacturer, as well as an extended National Labor Relations Board trial. Mr. Kishman also assists businesses with collective bargaining negotiations, employee and supervisor training, and multijurisdictional labor and employment compliance planning.
Jill Kirila, Global Co-chair of the Labor & Employment Practice, said: “We are delighted to welcome Will to our US team, bringing with him extensive experience in multiple jurisdictions across the US. Will has a track record of success, both in labor and employment litigation matters and in counseling clients before disputes reach that stage. As such, he will make a great contribution to our practice group and clients.”
Speaking of his appointment, Mr. Kishman said: “I am delighted to be joining Squire Patton Boggs and returning to Ohio. Given the reputation of the firm and the many changes occurring in labor and employment law across the US, I look forward to advising our clients across the country and around the world on how to best deal with this ever-shifting landscape.”
Mr. Kishman graduated from Miami University and received his Juris Doctor from Ohio State University. He is admitted to practice in Kentucky, Ohio (pending an oath of office), the US District Courts in Kentucky and the Southern District of Indiana, as well as the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Mr. Kishman’s appointment forms part of a strategic expansion in key locations for labor and employment matters. Earlier this week, the firm hired Julia Yeo as a Labor & Employment Practice partner in Singapore and last month the firm appointed Sarah Lawrence as a partner in the firm’s Dubai office.
