Squire Patton Boggs has advised on four transactions included in India Business Law Journal’s list of landmark deals and disputes from 2017.
The featured transactions are:
US$2.3 billion Qualified Institutional Placement of State Bank of India. Squire Patton Boggs acted as US counsel to the State Bank of India on the deal, which was the largest institutional equity offering in India to date.
US$1.4 billion IPO of New India Assurance. This was one of the first initial public offerings by a government-owned general insurance company. Squire Patton Boggs advised New India Assurance Company as international legal counsel on the IPO.
US$1.3 billion IPO of SBI Life Insurance Company. Squire Patton Boggs advised SBI Life on the largest IPO for a life insurance company in India in terms of offer size in the last seven years.
National Aluminium Company offer for sale. The first public sector undertaking divestment of 2017, where the government raised US$185 million by selling a 9.2% stake in the state-owned National Aluminum (NALCO). Squire Patton Boggs advised NALCO and the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management on the offer for sale.
