Squire Patton Boggs has launched an International Trade Practice in Madrid with the appointment of José María Viñals, the former head of the Madrid office of Lupicinio Abogados. Mr. Viñals has joined the firm with experienced associate Tania Esparza.
With a career that includes practising at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Madrid and Spanish firm Pérez-Llorca, Mr. Viñals brings a wealth of experience in advising Spanish and global companies on international trade matters, including compliance and sanctions. His practice includes representing clients in the energy and infrastructure sectors, particularly those operating in Latin America and the Middle East. Other areas of specialism include mergers and acquisitions, project and asset finance.

Mr. Viñals has a degree in Law and Business Administration and Management from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE), and he is recognized as a leading lawyer by directories Chambers, The Legal 500 and Best Lawyers. In 2017, he was named to the Iberian Lawyer’s 40 under 40 list of leading lawyers in Spain and Portugal.
