Leading real estate publication Commercial Property Executive has recognized Squire Patton Boggs as one of the nation’s top real estate law firms in their annual rankings, landing in the #11 spot.
With a global Real Estate team of 249 lawyers operating across five continents, Squire Patton Boggs has one of the largest practices in the industry. Acting as trusted advisers to investors, developers and lenders, the firm represents clients in all real estate sectors, including office, retail, industrial, multifamily residential, healthcare and hospitality.
The firm’s Real Estate Practice was involved in some of the most complex transactions in 2018, including representing an institutional investor in a mixed-use residential development under construction and valued at approximately US$2.3 billion. Other notable transactions included acting for a leading real estate development, investment and capital management company headquartered in Singapore in the US$1.46 billion financing of a multi-property portfolio; and advising EDF Renewables in relation to the sale of a 49% minority stake in 24 of its UK wind farms. Cash proceeds to EDF at close were approximately £701 million (US$887 million).
Within the past 12 months, the Real Estate Practice has made several strategic hires across its global platform. In October 2018, partners Alexandra Plain and Jérémy Roigt joined the Paris office; and real estate finance partner Nicholas J. Bell and director Leanne Keyte joined from The Royal Bank of Scotland plc in the Leeds and London offices, respectively. Early January 2019 saw the arrival of consultant Kevin Nagle, senior associate Amar Iqbal and associate Katherine Daud to the Birmingham Real Estate team. Mary Pringle and Michael Swift joined in July 2019 as partners in the firm’s Perth office.
The CPE survey judged firms using a weighted formula based on a variety of factors, such as revenue performance, number of lawyers dedicated to the sector, growth of real estate practice, and the size and nature of reported deals.
