Squire Patton Boggs partner Larry P. Schiffer has been selected for the AIDA Reinsurance and Insurance Arbitration Society’s (ARIASU.S.) Dick Kennedy Award. Mr. Schiffer was recognized at the 2019 ARIAS Fall Conference reception on October 3, 2019.
Named after T. Richard Kennedy, founder of ARIAS•U.S., the Dick Kennedy Award is given to an individual whose conduct and initiative has epitomized the objectives of ARIAS. This person has made significant contributions toward the improvement of the arbitration process and by fostering the development of arbitration law and practice as a means of resolving national and international insurance and reinsurance disputes in an efficient, economical and equitable manner.
“This award is well deserved and speaks to Larry’s continuous commitment to the work of ARIASU.S. and the reinsurance/insurance industry. Larry gives generously of his time, and Dick Kennedy would have been proud to see the award bestowed on Larry,” said Michael Frantz, ARIAS’s Board Chairman.
For more than two decades, Mr. Schiffer has been a key member of ARIAS, holding a number of leadership roles. He currently serves as editor of ARIASU.S. Quarterly and is a member of the Ethics Committee. He previously chaired the organization’s Technology Committee and, most recently, served as co-chair of the 2017 Spring Conference.
Mr. Schiffer is active in legal and insurance industry associations, where he holds various leadership positions. He has lectured in the US, Bermuda and the UK, and has been widely published on reinsurance and other insurance, litigation and technology topics in various national and international journals and publications.
