Squire Patton Boggs has received four new rankings, including its second in the top tier, at the launch of the latest Pravo 300, as well as winning the special category, Lawmaking Activity.

The Pravo 300, now in its tenth year, has become the most comprehensive national ranking of international and domestic law firms operating in Russia. The rankings are produced by Pravo.ru, Russia’s largest independent legal media outlet, which has covered legal insights, legislative updates, investigations, interviews and court reports since 2008. The latest rankings were launched at a gala event at The Ritz Carlton, Moscow, on December 5.

The firm’s rankings this year are:

    • Top tier in PPP/Infrastructure Projects and in Transport Law (new ranking)
    • Leading firm in Intellectual Property at Tier 2 and Corporate/M&A at Tier 2
    • New rankings in three further categories – Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare at Tier 2, Commercial Courts Litigation at Tier 3, and Labor and Migration Law at Tier 3

In addition, Squire Patton Boggs gained special recognition as the outright winner for the category Lawmaking Activity for its work on the Russian Draft Federal Law, “On the Protection and Promotion of Capital Investment and the Development of Investment Activities in the Russian Federation.” The firm’s Moscow office lawyers, led by partner Alexander Dolgov, had prepared a report listing the key shortcomings of the law that could have a negative impact on the market for infrastructure and other investment projects in Russia.

Attending the launch, where he received the special category accolade, Moscow office managing partner Sergey Treshchev commented: “This is tremendous recognition of our leading practices in infrastructure and transportation in Russia, and very welcome new and improved rankings in all of our key areas of expertise in Moscow. Not only that, but we also won the special Lawmaking Activity category for our team’s excellent work to improve the key piece of legislation on the investment in Russia.”

“It is great honour,” added Alexander Dolgov, “to see our efforts gain such high recognition from our peers in the legal community. We drew on our diverse and in-depth expertise in infrastructure finance and our industry-wide involvement to highlight areas where the legislation could be improved.”
