Elias Hayek, head of the firm’s global Hospitality & Leisure Industry Group, has been appointed co-chair of the Leisure Industries Section in the Legal Practice Division of the International Bar Association (IBA) for a two-year term. He will jointly oversee all of the IBA’s activities across the Leisure Industries Section, which comprises international lawyers practicing in the fields of travel, tourism, hospitality, sports and gaming law.
In addition to his leadership of the firm’s Hospitality & Leisure Industry Group and his extensive work across multiple jurisdictions for clients on hospitality-related matters, this role will draw on Mr. Hayek’s 17 years of previous experience at a leading Fortune 500 international hotel brands owner and operator, where he held the role of Vice President, Legal – Europe, Middle East and Africa. Mr. Hayek is also the former chair and president of the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Middle East chapter and former vice-chair of the IBA’s Corporate Counsel Forum. Mr. Hayek is the 2017 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Corporate Counsel.
