The United States Senate has confirmed Squire Patton Boggs partner Marisa Darden as the next U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, a historic appointment that makes her the first African American woman to assume the role, serving over 6 million people in the 40 most northern counties of Ohio.
At Squire Patton Boggs, Ms. Darden assisted clients across a myriad of industries and served as a member of the Government Investigations & White Collar Practice. She advised companies and individuals in defense of investigations and criminal matters brought by law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
Before joining Squire Patton Boggs, Ms. Darden served as Assistant United States Attorney and was an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office. She was the lead prosecutor on investigations and prosecutions of criminal matters involving complex factual and legal issues, including allegations of money laundering, fraud and violations under the Controlled Substances Act and New York law.
Co-Global Managing Partner Fred Nance commented, “I would like to congratulate Marisa on her unanimous confirmation. Not only does she bring experience, poise and a high level of emotional intelligence to the role, but also a diverse perspective that the Northern District of Ohio needs.”
“Marisa is very deserving of this confirmation. She continues a long tradition of members of the firm answering the call of service to our country, of which we are all proud. We look forward to her continued success in her new role,” commented Co-Global Managing Partner Michele Connell.
