Hana Čekalová primarily focuses her practice on banking, export, project, acquisition, real estate and asset based finance. Hana’s experience also includes advising on corporate law matters.

    Hana’s finance experience includes representing banks and private borrowers in bilateral and club loans, export credit transactions, project finance transactions and bond issues. Hana has significant experience with factoring transactions.

    Her corporate experience involves assisting large domestic and international clients with mergers and acquisitions, as well as with corporate, commercial and labor matters on an ongoing basis.

    • Advising a Czech Republic-based bank on financing of the sale of military equipment to Indonesia (a sovereign borrower). This was the biggest export financing deal in the Czech market in 2017.
    • Advising a Czech Republic-based bank on several financings of aircraft and aircraft equipment exported to Brazil, Nepal, South Africa and Mauritius.
    • Advising a leading Czech bank in connection with export financing insured by Slovak Export-Import Bank provided to a Russian importer.
    • Advising a Czech Republic-based bank on several financings of the construction and operation of shopping centers, plants and office space centers in the Russian Federation and Serbia.
    • Advising a private equity fund on several financings of acquisitions of companies owning and operating logistic parks, warehouses and offices.
    • Advising a global bank on €25 million multicurrency borrowing base credit and revolving facilities to a manufacturer and supplier of a wide range of electrical and mechanical fixings, fire protection and sanitary systems.
    • Advising a real estate investor and developer on financing of an urban regeneration project in Bratislava, Slovakia.
    • Advising leading Austrian and German banks on factoring transactions involving Czech trade receivables, in particular with respect to the assignment and security structure relating to the Czech part of the financing.
    • Advising a leading Czech bank on refinancing provided to a Czech developer for purposes of construction and operation of a shopping park in Pilsen.
    • Advising an investment fund in connection with the Czech portion of the financing to a US biopharmaceutical company with a focus on development and manufacturing guaranteed by its Czech subsidiary.
    • Advising a leading Czech developer on refinancing of a mezzanine loan.
    • Advising one of Europe’s leading commercial banks in financing of an acquisition by individual shareholders of a 50% stake in a construction company.
    • Advising a Czech borrower in connection with a domestic bond issue in the amount of CZK200 million.
    • Advising the municipality on a municipal bond in the amount of CZK5 billion.
    • Advising the largest bank in the Czech Republic in connection with updating its standard documentation under the new Civil Code.
    • Advising various foreign financial institutions, primarily in the Middle East, in connection with potential violations of economic sanctions and AML laws.

    Restructuring and Insolvency

    • Advising a Czech Republic-based bank on insolvency proceedings of an EPC contractor performing the construction of a power plant in Turkey financed by the bank.
    • Advising a Czech Republic-based bank in connection with restructuring of financing and the subsequent insolvency proceedings of the borrower in the Russian Federation, including internal due diligence of a bank’s contractual and other documentation in connection with a problematic loan.
    • Advising a Czech Republic-based bank on disputes arising in connection with insolvency proceedings of its borrower.


    • Advising a Maltese real estate fund on the acquisition of a Czech company owning a complex of warehouses, retail space and other non-residential premises.
