Stefanie is a senior associate in the Infrastructure team, specialising in the delivery of complex infrastructure and renewable energy projects. She focuses primarily on advising sponsors, lenders and other private sector participants on the construction, operation and financing aspects of projects.

    Stefanie advises on both primary projects and the acquisition and disposal of projects in the secondary market. Her practice covers a wide range of sectors, including renewable energy, social housing, student accommodation and education.

    Renewable Energy

    • Advising Roundwood Energy Limited (an Equitix energy infrastructure fund project company) on a £7 million investment in a biomass-to-heat installation.
    • Advising Nu-Energy Limited on various waste-to-energy renewable energy schemes across the UK, including Project Doncaster, a £60 million investment in a 10MW waste-to-energy plant.
    • Advising Green Tyre Technology and CAMG LLP on their joint venture for the development, finance and construction of a £250 million waste tyre processing facility in the UK.
    • Advising VL Ventures on various renewable energy projects in Europe and North America.
    • Advising Energy Savings Investments and Equitix Energy Efficiency Fund on their combined £60 million investment in the construction and operation of a waste-to-energy facility at Baddesley, Warwickshire.
    • Advising Edgeley Green Power Limited on the delivery and funding of a £40 million bio liquid power plant project in Shoreham to Financial Close.
    • Advising Pinnacle Power Limited as ESCO sub-contractor in relation to the design, construction and operation of an energy system at Clapham Park Regeneration Area.
    • Advising sponsors Camborne, Equitix and Forth Holdings Edgeley Green Power Limited on the delivery and funding of a £50 million large-scale energy battery storage project (50MW).
    • Advising Roundwood Energy Limited, an Equitix energy infrastructure fund project company, on a £6 million investment in poultry litter plants across the UK.
    • Advising Energy Savings Investments and Equitix Energy Efficiency Fund on their combined £30 million investment in the Nottingham Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Plant.
    • Advising Energy Savings Investments and Equitix Energy Efficiency Fund on their combined £30 million investment in the construction and operation of the Blakenham Glasshouse Project (to grow tomatoes) in Suffolk, a heat transmission line from the boundary of the SITA operated waste-to-energy facility.

    Student Accommodation

    • Advising a pension fund on the disposal of significant PPP student accommodation assets in the UK.
    • Advising sponsors Equitix, Derwent and Aston University on the transfer, acquisition and ongoing FM arrangements of the existing Aston University student accommodation (£240 million).
    • Advising Equitix on the University of London, Duncan House PPP Procurement for the funding and operation of student accommodation.
    • Advising sponsors Equitix, Bouygues Developments and Derwent on the Bath Court Student Accommodation Project in Birmingham (£35 million).
    • Advising a joint venture between Equitix and Derwent on the University of Shrewsbury Student Accommodation Project.

    Schools/PSP

    • Advising a joint venture between Carillion and Equitix on Midlands schools (Batch 5 of the Priority Schools Programme) whilst on secondment at Equitix (£190 million).
    • Advising sponsors Sir Robert McAlpine, Equitix and Forth Holdings on North East schools (Batch 2 of the Priority Schools Programme) (£113 million).
    • Advising Morgan Sindall Construction in its role as building contractor on (i) Hertfordshire, Luton & Reading schools (£140 million), (ii) Yorkshire schools (£120 million) and (iii) North West schools (£123 million) (Batches 1, 2 and 3 of the Priority Schools Programme).

    Operational Experience

    • Advising an FM contractor as incumbent contractor on 22 Carillion PFI FM agreements following the Carillion liquidation (NHS LIFT, Priority Schools Building Programme and healthcare PFIs).
    • Advising various project companies and investor clients on issues of the day, including post-Grenfell and the Carillion liquidation.
    • Advising on a number of project companies on project agreement, construction and maintenance variations to live PFI projects, for example the extension and reconfiguration of a PFI school, which involved significant negotiation of variations to the main project agreement and drafting interface arrangements between the building contractor and facilities management provider.

    Housing

    • Advising Pinnacle PRG and Starwood Capital on various developments and acquisitions in the UK.
    • Advising sponsors Equitix, Symphony Housing and Galliford Try on the £83 million bond finance Brunswick social housing PFI Project, which is a significant mixed-use, mixed-tenure scheme, to financial close.

    Secondary Market Work

    • Carrying out project due diligence for John Laing Infrastructure Fund and advising on a number of secondary market acquisitions in the housing, health and education sectors, including intra-group and third-party acquisitions.
    • Advising Equitix Limited on two significant secondary market acquisitions, which include street lighting, education, health and leisure assets.
