Jesús Avezuela is of counsel in the Corporate Practice Group in the Madrid office. He was previously a partner of the regulatory, administrative and competition practice at a global accounting firm from 2015-2018. Prior to that, he was the partner in charge of the public law department and managing partner of the Madrid office of a Spanish law firm from 2005-2015. Between 1999 and 2005, he held various positions of responsibility in a number of financial institutions.
Jesús is counsel to the State Council, appointed by Resolution of 23 December 1998 (BOE of 31 December 1998). He is currently in an administrative role compatible with professional practice. He has also been a lecturer in administrative law at Centro Universitario Villanueva, affiliated with the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, since 2012, and was a lecturer in administrative law at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos from 1999-2012. Jesús is a professor accredited by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation in Spain (ANECA).
He has been listed in Best Lawyers since 2009 and recommended in the Public and Urban Law area in international directories, including Chambers and The Legal 500.
