Poulad Berenjforoush is an associate in the Energy & Natural Resources Practice Group in Sydney. Poulad has broad experience representing project developers, oil and gas companies, energy and utility companies, and international contractors in major transactions relating to power and energy, oil and gas, and social infrastructure projects.

    Poulad has advised on a number of ground-breaking projects in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, including on developing a long-term LNG bunkering project in the port of Singapore.

    Prior to commencing in private practice, he was an analyst with an independent investment banking firm based in Washington DC providing advice on project finance and oil and gas-related projects, and served as an associate (judicial clerk) to two judges at the District Court of New South Wales, Australia.

    • Advising a Singapore-based LNG company in relation to developing:
      • A long-term LNG bunkering project in Singapore, including assisting in drafting the operational and scheduling agreement and the supply and handling agreement
      • The first commercial ship-to-ship LNG bunkering project in Singapore, including assisting in drafting the bunkering agreement
    • Advising a Japanese entity in respect of a medium-term sale agreement for LPG (ex-ship deliveries) and commodities trade licensing requirements in Singapore.
    • Advising a state-owned oil company on the acquisition of an energy company operating a major oil field in Southeast Asia.
    • Advising a financial institution in respect of a multimillion-dollar loan facility for an upstream oil development project in Indonesia.
    • Advising a leading Turkish power and utility conglomerate in relation to developing multiple IPPs in the Middle East, with the first project involving the construction of two BOO combined-cycle gas-fired power plants with total capacity of 2,000 MW.
    • Advising a US multinational conglomerate on energy and social infrastructure projects and general corporate matters in the Middle East.
    • Advising a UK-headquartered company on a 100 MW solar PV project in the Middle East, including associated power purchase agreement and regulatory permits.
    • Advising a European upstream oil and gas company in relation to general corporate matters and foreign investment issues in the Middle East.
    • Advising a major European company in connection with a joint venture to develop a 60,000 bpd condensate refinery project in the Middle East.
    • Advising a Korean entity in connection with the potential financing and development of a number of combined-cycle gas-fired IPP projects in the Middle East.
    • Advising a Dubai-based company in relation to the sale of its telecom distribution and services business in the Middle East and Africa for US$50 million to a global logistics and supply chain company.
