Melissa Black is a member of the commercial litigation department with a focus on labor and employment matters.

    Melissa defends employers in state and federal employment actions, including wage and hour class actions involving allegations of misclassification, meal and rest break violations, off-the-clock work, improper rounding, overtime violations, and more. She also defends employers against allegations of discrimination, retaliation and harassment. In addition to litigation, Melissa’s practice includes proactive counseling on a wide variety of employment issues, such as parental leave, exempt classification, compensable time, expense reimbursement, workplace safety, and tip-pooling.

    Melissa has also represented companies in consumer class actions, business-to-business contract disputes, antitrust disputes and intellectual property matters.
