Elena Cooper is a director in the Labour & Employment Practice. She has more than 20 years’ experience of employment law, with a keen and specialist focus on Employment Tribunal litigation.

    Elena acts for household names, providing commercial, timely, practical and effective support with all litigation matters, including unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing, equal pay and unlawful deductions claims. She also acts for clients in the High Court and the Employment Appeal Tribunal.

    Elena ensures that her clients’ tribunal claims are handled without drama or unnecessary cost. She finds commercial solutions and assesses future risk, ensuring on a continuous basis that claim volumes are reduced and clients adopt practices and procedures that further mitigate their litigation risk profile.

    As part of her client service, Elena provides bespoke training to clients, both in-house and at various Employment Tribunals across England.

    • Successfully defending a £1.9 million whistleblowing claim on behalf of a PLC.
    • Successfully settling two discrimination claims with a combined value of more than £4 million, prior to proceedings being issued, creating a financial win for the client.
    • Successfully defending a group action against a client for equal pay, ensuring precedent value for the client.
    • Successfully defending TUPE claims from a group of 40 employees, resulting in a cost saving to the client of more than £2 million.
    • Successfully defending multiple unfair dismissal and discrimination claims for long-standing clients.
