Ben Dawson


Ben Dawson is an associate in the Pensions Practice Group based in our Leeds office. Ben provides advice to both trustees and sponsoring employers on pensions issues affecting defined contribution, defined benefit and public sector schemes. Ben also advises corporate clients in respect of the pensions implications of proposed transactions.

Ben has recently undertaken a six-month secondment to a statutory pension fund as part of the in-house legal team.


  • Advising trustee clients on a variety of areas, including benefit queries, legislative changes and member disputes.
  • Advising in relation to pension scheme merger exercises.
  • Drafting of scheme documentation to consolidate, update or amend.
  • Providing advice in relation to trustee knowledge and understanding requirements, trustee duties and governance obligations.
  • Advising on compliance and changes to legislation, including in relation to automatic enrolment and pensions freedoms.
  • Advising in respect of PPF-compliant guarantees.
  • Providing advice in relation to participation in the Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Assisting with the drafting and negotiating of investment related documentation and commercial contracts, dealing with contract and procurement queries as well as undertaking discrete pensions matters during a six-month secondment to a statutory pension fund.
