Hannah Vernon (née Field) is a lawyer in our Labour & Employment Practice Group, covering all areas of contentious and non-contentious employment law. Hannah is also a member of the dedicated DSAR team in the London office and regularly handles employee data subject access requests.

Hannah provides support to in-house counsel and HR professionals on a wide variety of matters, including drafting and reviewing service agreements, consultancy agreements and other contractual and policy documentation. Hannah also advises both individuals and companies on settlement agreements.

Hannah has particular experience in handling employee data subject access requests, advising on approach and managing the review process from receipt to response. She also drafts and advises on staff data privacy documentation, including privacy notices and data protection policies. This experience has provided her with invaluable insight into the data privacy aspects of employment issues.

Hannah also advises a range of clients across all sectors on employment issues such as working time, family leave, grievance and disciplinary procedures, redundancy procedures and recruitment and dismissal. Hannah’s contentious experience includes defending claims of unfair dismissal, wrongful dismissal, whistleblowing and various types of discrimination.

Hannah is focused on practical, commercial solutions and clients appreciate her thoughtful approach and speed of response.

  • Regularly managing large-scale global projects for global clients, which involves coordinating multiple jurisdictions (including across Latin America, North America, Asia Pacific and EMEA) to advise on a range of data privacy and employment issues, including data retention, electronic executions of employment documents, returning to office working in the COVID-19 pandemic, and recruitment and onboarding.
  • Regularly advising on and managing data subject access requests, including advising on the approach and initial correspondence with the data subject, reviewing documentation for personal data and preparing the final response and documentation to the data subject.
  • Acting for a leading UK food company in several disputes with former employees who brought claims in the Employment Tribunal following termination of their employment.
  • Conducting corporate support work, including due diligence and drafting corporate documents for both vendors and purchasers on acquisitions and disposals.
  • Drafting and negotiating consultancy agreements, service agreements and other contractual documentation.
