Matthew Flanagan-Roberts is an associate in the global Corporate Practice, based in our Manchester office. Matthew was awarded the Legal Professional of the Year award at the JCI Manchester Young Talent Awards 2021.

Matthew advises on national and international transactions and specialises in mergers and acquisitions, and private equity investments, as well as joint ventures, corporate reorganisations, corporate governance and employee ownership trusts.

Matthew advises private equity investors, corporates and entrepreneurs, as well as individuals across a range of sectors in the local, national and international markets.

Matthew is a previous chair of the Manchester Young Solicitors Group, a social and professional network for qualified solicitors under 10 years’ PQE, of which he was chair for almost three years. In addition, Matthew sat on Manchester Law Society’s equality, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) and education committees during his time in Manchester. Internally, Matthew is an active member of the firm’s LGBT+ resource group (having launched the firm’s local AU LGBT+ resource group covering the Sydney and Perth offices) and is committed to raising awareness in this space.

  • Acting for an Australian investment fund on the disposal of a produce wholesaler to an established organic food and product brand.
  • Acting for ECI Partners LLP in relation to the share acquisition of, and subsequent investment into, Mobysoft Limited (a predictive analytics software business).
  • Acting for Plixxent Holding GmbH (backed by H.I.G. Capital) in relation to the share acquisition of MRi Polytech, a British producer of polyurethane systems.
  • Acting for ROI Media Ltd, a leader in the web domain space, in relation to its incoming investment rounds, and subsequent share and business bolt-on acquisitions.
  • Acting for The Co-operative Group on the share disposal of The Co-operative Care Limited (also known as the online platform and digital prescription service, Co-op Health).
  • Acting for The Co-operative Group on the share disposal of Reclaim Fund Ltd (a business that deals with the receipt and management of dormant account monies).
  • Acting for Aimil Limited on the business acquisition of ELE International, a leading material testing equipment business.
  • Acting for University Games UK Limited in relation to the business acquisition of The Lagoon Group, a UK leader in gifts and board games.
  • Acting for Bradley Park Waste Management Limited in relation to the share sale of Chemwaste Limited, a hazardous waste management and environmental services business.
  • Acting for LE Capital UK Limited in relation to the business acquisition of RateSetter’s car dealer finance portfolio.
  • Acting for a life sciences research company in relation to its listing on AIM.
  • Acting for UK community pharmacy businesses in relation to their various acquisitions and disposals, as well as their financing and internal structuring arrangements.
  • Acting for the shareholders of three different UK-based companies in relation to the transition of becoming employee owned.
