Kenji L. Funahashi


Kenji Funahashi is a Los Angeles-based partner in our Global Corporate Practice, with a focus on domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, including venture capital and private equity transactions.

Kenji has extensive experience representing public and privately held companies, strategic investors, venture capital funds and private equity funds on their investments and business operations around the world. He has handled more than US$8 billion in financings, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and IPOs.

Kenji’s practice also covers a wide range of corporate finance matters, from early stage startup companies obtaining angel financing to multibillion-dollar transactions for multinational and Fortune 500 companies. He works closely with clients from a broad spectrum of industries, including software, IT, social networking and analytics, life sciences and medical devices, and renewable energy, sustainability and clean technology.

Kenji has lived and worked in Tokyo as an attorney and was a Fund for International Education Scholar at Osaka University School of Law. He also has served as chair of the San Diego North Chamber of Commerce's Economic Development Committee and Cleantech Subcommittee; president, chair and board member of the Japan Society of San Diego and Tijuana; co-chair of the Judicial Endorsements Committee and board member of the Pan Asian Lawyers of San Diego; board member of the Union of Pan Asian Communities (UPAC); pro bono counsel to a number of nonprofit entities; and recipient of the State Bar of California Wiley Manuel Pro Bono Award in 2004 and 2005.
