Alexandra Gacíková’s practice focuses on real estate, corporate, commercial, public procurement, labor and employment and litigation matters.

    Her experience in real estate matters includes representing national and international clients in acquisition and disposal of real estate across the Slovak Republic, and providing legal services in all aspects of real estate ownership.

    Alexandra also counsels Slovak and foreign employers on labor matters. Her expertise includes advising on various issues relating to employment law, including advising on regulation and compliance issues, contracts, dismissals, immigration, benefits, employee mobility and business transfers.

    Alexandra advises on corporate transactional matters including mergers and acquisitions and financings. Her corporate experience includes counseling clients on incorporating all types of corporate entities in the Slovak Republic spanning numerous industries.

    Alexandra’s public procurement expertise includes representing clients in all stages of the tender procedure, from the preparation of competitive bids to completion of the procedure.

    Alexandra graduated from the Faculty of Law, Trnava University in Trnava, the Slovak Republic. Prior to joining the our Bratislava office as an associate, she worked as a sole practitioner and was a registered legal trainee in one of Bratislava’s law firms, concentrating mainly on mergers and acquisitions, due diligence and litigation.

    Alexandra is a member of the Slovak Bar Association. She is also a member of the Real Estate Committee, the Digital Committee and the Employment and Social Affairs Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic.

    • Advising a British marketing agency on a multi-country program with respect to transfer of employees including advising on Slovakian (fixed-term) employment contract including standardizing the employees' terms and minimizing the effect of the collectively bargained agreements, identifying a number of key potential issues which de-risked the project, including identifying a pool of “freelance” employees. This also led to the saving of costs for the client.
    • Advising a British facilities management company on the employment law aspects of its £1.48 billion purchase of the Global Workplace Solution, part of Johnson Controls Inc. Slovakia was one of 33 jurisdictions across Europe, Asia and Africa that the wider Labor & Employment team was appointed to advise on.
    • Advising a global healthcare company with respect to closing of a branch in Slovakia including termination of employment relationships.
    • Advised one of the world's leading producers and suppliers of cement and aggregates with respect to potential acquisition of subsidiaries of the group one of the world's leading building materials companies, including the Slovak subsidiary. Representation included due diligence regarding various legal aspects in particular on corporate, financing, intellectual property, environmental, regulatory, insurance, real estate and litigation issues.
    • Advising US Embassy in the Slovak Republic in relation to its new compound in Bratislava.
    • Advising a British insurance company in title due diligence and title insurance matters relating to an acquisition by a major US real estate investor, of two prime real estate projects – an office building and a greenfield site covering approx. 500,000 square meters for future multi-purpose development. This was part of the acquisition with the total CEE transaction volume expected at a level of €8 billion for 2015.
    • Advising a nonprofit organization associating all professions acting in the area of urban development and landscaping on various legislation issues, methodology for municipalities to adopt local development fee decrees and methodology for issuance of binding positions in construction proceedings to speed up the municipal approval process for construction.
    • Advising the world’s largest manufacturer of thread products  on corporate matters relating to transfer of part of business in Slovakia (including transfer of employees) within the worldwide sale of its division dealing with manufacturing and distribution in the field of European crafts business to the German strategic investor .
    • Advising a US multinational conglomerate on the sell-off of the Czech and Slovak assets of the client's real estate division to one of the world's leading investment firms. The transaction was part of the global deal whereby the client agreed to divest most of its assets (entire real estate division) to the investment company and a financial services company for more than US$26 billion. The Czech and Slovak transaction comprised the sale of five real estate assets that were divided into two separate share deals as well as intragroup financing repayment and assignment.
    • Advising a private not-for-profit institution of higher learning on property title due diligence.
    • Advising an agricultural, food processing and chemical holding company in connection with more than US$300 million acquisition of a food processing group operating in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, the Netherlands and Poland including due diligence.
    • Advising a US university association on corporate governance, corporate changes in Slovak entities and employment matters.
    • Advising a worldwide provider of contract logistics and freight management on employment law matters with regard to organizational changes in its Slovak subsidiary as a result of changes in the leadership structures within its subsidiaries in Central Europe including preparation of necessary documentation for termination of employment relationships and advising on the possibilities of garden leave under Slovak law.
    • Advising one of the world's largest retailers in greenfield and brownfield freehold and leasehold acquisitions in various Slovak cities for retail and warehousing purposes including advising on a broad range of real estate issues including litigation proceedings at all instances.
    • Representing a Slovakia-based branch of an international investment and development group, in connection with a high-quality residential project located in Bratislava including obtaining planning and building permits, preparing contracts on transfer of legal title to apartments and land designated for construction of family dwellings as well as complex legal advisory services regarding all corporate, construction, design, permitting, facility management and project financing matters of the client.
    • Advising a leading European manufacturer of knitted and woven geosynthetics for the construction market based in Slovakia on real estate and other issues on an ongoing basis. We prepared a contract for work regarding demolition of buildings relating to removal of asbestos from the site which also involved advice on environmental aspects.
    • Advising a Swiss company on general corporate matters such as the shareholders’ agreement and acquisition financing including assisting with group restructuring in the Slovak Republic.
    • Advising a German lifestyle clothing company with respect to collection of its claims against its Slovak customer/dealer including preparation of contractual documentation aimed at providing security for the client and advice on Slovak bankruptcy law.
    • Advising a Luxemburg company dealing in business on general corporate matters including dealing in connection with group restructuring.
    • Representing a Slovak car rental company with respect to a claim brought by a trademark owner alleging violation of its trademark in the Slovak Republic and preparing a legal analysis on the validity of the client’s trademark within the Slovak Republic, European Union and third countries.
    • Advising one of Europe's largest trussing manufacturers, on all aspects of acquisition of a foreign company with a manufacturing facility in the Slovak Republic.
