Emma is an associate in the Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group based in Leeds.

Emma has experience in general commercial and intellectual property matters, consumer law matters and data protection matters. She works for clients across a variety of sectors, including manufacturing, technology, healthcare and retail.

Her practice ranges from advising on the content of commercial agreements including terms and conditions, transitional service agreements, distribution agreements and supply agreements, providing advice and training on consumer law legislation and regulation, advising on both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property law issues including reviewing and drafting assignment and license agreements and providing advice to clients on the enforcement and defence of intellectual property claims and advising on data compliance issues including drafting appropriate policies and agreements.

Emma also regularly provides corporate support assistance including undertaking due diligence on commercial and trading documents, intellectual property matters and data protection compliance documentation and reviewing and drafting related ancillary documentation for corporate transactions.

She has undertaken client secondments in the in-house legal departments of Wakefield Council and a global medical device manufacturing company.

  • Reviewing and drafting a range of commercial agreements including consultancy agreements and research and development agreements for a global medical device manufacturing company.
  • Undertaking the review and amendment of an online consumer retailer’s website terms and conditions of sale and associated policies.
  • Representing a Chinese toy manufacturer in the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court in relation to an unregistered Community design right claim.
  • Assisting with successfully bringing both civil proceedings and a rare private criminal prosecution against a counterfeiter in relation to trade mark and copyright infringement for a global costume manufacturer.
  • Assisting with advising a football club on its responses to a number of data subject access requests.
  • Advising a global health supplement retailer on its data compliance obligations and drafting appropriate data protection policies and data transfer agreements for use in its business.
