Swati Gupta is an associate in our Corporate team based in our Perth office. Currently, her focus is primarily in the Energy and Resources sector where she assists with litigated disputes before the Electricity Review Board (WA). Swati has also gained considerable transactional and litigious experience in a variety of other areas, including environmental law, native title, local government practice and government regulation.

    • Assisted with complex, multiparty proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia involving native title rights, contractual interpretation issues, and misleading and deceptive conduct provisions.
    • Assisted ASIC in its investigation into the potential prosecution of an individual in respect of mismanagement of funds and breaches of the Corporations Act.
    • Assisted the Town of Cambridge in Supreme Court proceedings relating to the Minister for Local Government’s powers under the Local Government Act.
    • Assisted in providing advice to an international client on the acquisition of a stake in a mineral sands project, with a particular focus on environmental approvals and obligations under the Native Title Act.
    • Assisted with the preparation of strategic advice in respect to:
      • The importation of products into Australia.
      • The governance framework of Aboriginal corporations.
      • Anti-bribery and corruption obligations in Australia and the UK.
      • The effect of COVID-19 on operations and relations for an international client with subsidiaries based in Australia and New Zealand.
