Elsa Haj Houssain is an associate in our Competition – Antitrust Practice based in our London office. Elsa’s practice covers contentious and non-contentious EU and UK competition law matters, as well as public procurement litigation in the UK courts, acting for both claimants and defendants.

    Prior to joining Squire Patton Boggs, Elsa previously worked on EU and French law matters in the Paris office of two international law firms. Elsa has undertaken secondments at a leading live entertainment company, a film production company and our Paris office.

    • Successfully representing Marston Holdings Limited in its claim against the Ministry of Justice in the High Court following a procurement process for the delivery of approved enforcement agency services. The Ministry of Justice agreed to cancel the award and re-run the procurement in November 2018.
    • Representing a US company in the French Competition Authority’s investigation into online advertising.
    • Representing SRCL Limited in its appeal to the Court of Appeal against the July 2018 judgment of Mr Justice Fraser in SRCL Limited v NHS England (ongoing). Squire Patton Boggs did not advise SRCL in relation to its High Court action.
    • Assisting the team representing BritNed Development Limited in its claim for follow-on damages against ABB in the UK High Court (the first case of its kind to go to judgment in the UK), in which it was awarded €15 million in damages by way of 2 judgments in October and November 2018. The claim in the High Court followed on from the European Commission Decision in the Power Cables cartel.
    • Representing Magnox Limited in defending a procurement challenge in the High Court brought by one of its suppliers, Amalgamated Construction Limited. The matter was successfully settled in a mediation in July 2018.
    • Assisting the team representing Cathay Pacific Airways Airlines in their defence of a contribution claim in the UK High Court following the European Commission Decision in the Airfreight cartel (ongoing).
    • Assisting the team advising Vp plc on the CMA’s merger control review of its completed acquisition of Brandon Hire, which was cleared unconditionally on 7 March 2018.
    • Advising clients on supply and distribution agreements and on general compliance with UK, EU and French competition law.
