Elsa Haj Houssain is an associate in our Competition – Antitrust Practice based in our London office. Elsa’s practice covers contentious and non-contentious EU and UK competition law matters, as well as public procurement litigation in the UK courts, acting for both claimants and defendants.

    Prior to joining Squire Patton Boggs, Elsa previously worked on EU and French law matters in the Paris office of two international law firms. Elsa has undertaken secondments at a leading live entertainment company, a film production company and our Paris office.

    • Advising Studio Retail Group plc on the CMA’s ongoing review of the sale of its Findel Education business to YPO (Phase 1 and Phase 2).
    • Advising Vp plc in an ongoing CMA antitrust probe in the construction equipment sector.
    • Representing Sheffield City Council in its ongoing defence of a procurement challenge in the UK High Court.
    • Advising pharmaceutical clients on compliance with EU and UK competition law in relation to the supply of certain drugs.
    • Advising a client on UK merger control and potential government intervention relating to its acquisition of a satellite navigation technologies business.
    • Advising an ICT client in its procurement for services under NATO’s Procedures for International Competitive Bidding.
    • Successfully representing Marston Holdings Limited in its claims against the Ministry of Justice and Oxfordshire County Council in the UK High Court following procurements for the delivery of approved enforcement agency services and parking enforcement services.
    • Advising Funeral Partners on the CMA’s ongoing market investigation into the supply of funeral directors services and crematoria services.
    • Successfully representing SRCL Limited in its appeal to the Court of Appeal against the July 2018 judgment of Mr Justice Fraser in SRCL Limited v NHS England (Squire Patton Boggs did not advise SRCL in relation to its High Court action).
    • Advising a US company in the French Competition Authority’s market investigation into online advertising.
    • Successfully representing Magnox Limited in defending a procurement challenge in the UK High Court brought by one of its suppliers, Amalgamated Construction Limited.
    • Assisting Cathay Pacific Airways Airlines in its ongoing defence of a contribution claim in the UK High Court following the European Commission Decision in the Airfreight cartel.
    • Advising Vp plc on the CMA’s merger control review of its completed acquisition of Brandon Hire, which was cleared unconditionally.
    • Advising clients on supply and distribution agreements and on general compliance with UK, EU and French competition law.
