Igor Hanas advises clients from the energy sector, on both renewable and conventional energy projects, as well as clients in chemicals, industrial and infrastructural construction businesses, including public-private partnership (PPP) projects.

    He advises international and domestic investors, global technology suppliers and general contractors on all aspects of turnkey projects, from tender and negotiations, through financing, completion, regulatory issues, cross-border technology and intellectual property rights transfer, corporate and contract aspects, to settling the investment with the investor.

    Igor advises and represents domestic and international clients in licencing procedures related to energy and fuel generation and trade, including oil and gas exploration and natural resources. He also handles issues related to REACH and chemicals trading.

    He advises corporate clients and independent energy generators on corporate PPA and green certificates trading. In his practice, he also focuses on providing advice with regard to exploration and maintenance agreements and chemicals trading agreements.

    He represents clients before public administration bodies, common courts and the National Appeals Chamber in the course of the above-mentioned matters.

    Further, Igor lectures on renewable energy law at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW.

    Prior to joining the firm, Igor worked for several years at the Warsaw office of an international law firm. Before that, he worked at an institution comprising an international financial group.

    • Advising a leading energy construction enterprise on the construction of one of the largest biomass heat power plants in Europe.
    • Advising domestic and international investors on the purchase, construction and maintenance of renewable energy projects in Poland (photovoltaic, wind and biomass), including regulatory advice.
    • Representing a leading energy construction enterprise in a public procurement procedure and in negotiations with investors on the construction of a new 1,000 MW power plant project within Elektrownia Ostrołęka S.A. worth US$1.7 billion.
    • Advising an international group of advanced environmental solutions suppliers in the energy and heat sector, pursuing all stages of turnkey projects pertaining to modernising and converting fuel for Polish energy groups such as PGE, TAURON, Grupa ENERGA, Grupa ZE PAK, Dalkia and EDF, from tender and negotiations, through completion, cross-border issues and technology transfer, to settling the investment with the investor.
    • Negotiating trade agreements with energy sector entities, including those operating in refining and exploration, on behalf of leading chemicals manufacturers.
    • Representing international and domestic entities operating in the energy and infrastructure sectors in court disputes and public procurement procedures before the National Appeals Chamber.
    • Representing domestic and international clients in regulatory matters before the president of the Energy Regulatory Office and in administrative procedures before the Minister of Energy and the Minister of Environment pertaining to licensing gas exploration, as well as representing before administrative courts.
    • Advising the Space Research Centre on hi-tech devices and an intellectual property rights transfer, including software classified as limited dual-use products, as well as advising on government approvals and consents pertaining to such transfers. Also advising on public procurement issues and assisting in negotiating a satellite launch agreement with an international operator rendering such services.
    • Representing a leading energy construction enterprise in a public procurement procedure and in negotiations with investors, including representing before the National Appeals Chamber and common courts in a matter concerning the construction of two new power plants with a capacity of 1,000 MW and 910 MW, worth US$1.7 billion and US$1.3 billion respectively, as well as the Warszawa-Żerań gas burning heat power plant worth US$700 million.
    • Advising European and Asian EPC companies on a tender, announced by Polskie Sieci Energetyczne, for designing and constructing high-voltage power transmission lines and transformer stations, including an energy “bridge” between Poland and Lithuania.
    • Advising a private partner on two PPP broadband network projects worth €140 million, including current negotiations with public partners and several leading global telecommunications infrastructure suppliers with regard to a PPP agreement and project usage stage modelling.
    • Participating in a project originating in Saudi Arabia related to international financial services.
    • Advising an international EPC contractor on matters pertaining to an FIDIC contract and contract documentation related to the turnkey project of a CCGT heat power plant in the CIS region.
