Dominique Hartfield specialises in the area of labour and employment. Her experience includes advisory, commercial, transactional and litigation work in employment and industrial law. Dominique has worked in the firm’s Perth and Sydney offices.

    Dominique assists local, national and global clients from a broad range of industries by providing strategic advice and representation on a wide variety of human resources and industrial relations matters including occupational health and safety issues and privacy issues.

    Dominique is a committee member of The Law Society of Western Australia's Employee Relations Committee. She is also a general member of The Law Society of Western Australia and the Australian Labour Law Association. 

    She is the editor and contributor to Squire Patton Boggs’ monthly legal employment update to clients, Workplace View, and speaks at a variety of internal and external seminars on employment related issues.

    Employment Law

    • Preparing a range of employment agreements, secondment agreements, independent contractor agreements and labour hire agreements for local, national and international clients.
    • Advising on the preparation of enterprise agreements and the agreement making process.
    • Advising local and international corporate clients in relation to labour and employment aspects of due diligence reviews for local and interstate acquisitions.
    • Advising on termination remuneration restrictions in the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), bonus arrangements and preparing a range of employment related commercial agreements and executive employment agreements.
    • Advising clients on termination issues including implementing and enforcing post-termination restrictive covenants.
    • Advising local authorities in relation to legal and governance issues including termination of employment, reappointment of employees, and CEO and deputy CEO employment contracts.
    • Representing clients in federal court and federal circuit court proceedings in relation to breaches of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth). 
    • Advising and representing clients in relation to adverse action and unfair dismissal claims and proceedings by employees.
    • Assisting in carrying out workplace investigations and advising clients in relation to bullying and harassment complaints, misconduct by employees and the management of underperforming employees.
    • Advising clients in the resources industry in relation to employee drug-testing issues.

    Workplace Privacy

    • Advising on workplace surveillance and privacy issues.

    Occupational Health and Safety Law

    • Representing the AMEC in the Legislative Review Working Group run by the Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) to review the Mines Safety and Inspection Levy Regulations 2010.
    • Advising corporate clients in relation to occupational, health and safety aspects of due diligence reviews for local and interstate acquisitions.
