Ian Hartley is a director in the Real Estate team, based in the Leeds office. He has wide range of experience of commercial real estate transactions, acting for occupiers, developers, investors and funders, with particular focus on the residential and retail and leisure sectors.

Ian has acted for over 15 years in the student accommodation sector (including for the UK’s largest private provider of student accommodation). His experience in this sector includes the acquisition, development and development funding of thousands of student bedrooms throughout the UK, in addition to large scale acquisitions, disposals and portfolio transactions involving established student accommodation assets.

He is also well-versed in large retail transactions (having acted for both large tenant occupiers and shopping centre developers) and matters for public authorities relating to developments, acquisitions, portfolio management and disposals.

In addition, Ian works with our Corporate and Financial Services teams in relation to the real estate aspects of business sales and purchases and corporate restructuring and re-financing.
