Ken Huestebeck is a member of the European Public Policy Practice, where he focuses on energy, the environment and health.
Ken joined the firm in September 2017. Previously, he was a lawyer in the strategic litigation team of a public interest law firm in Brussels and London. There, he successfully managed contentious competition and environmental policy matters in European upstream power and heat markets, including in Germany. He has also worked on the legislative proposals of the EU Clean Energy Package. Before that, he focused on chemicals policy, in particular REACH, and related regulatory and legislative procedures, representing his organisation as an “accredited stakeholder” in various EU expert bodies.
Ken trained with German and UK law firms in energy, competition and public procurement law. Before his practical training, he worked for a US law firm in Brussels on product and environmental regulation, and for several years as a research assistant focusing on trade law and policy at the University of Münster, Germany.
Ken is a German-qualified lawyer (Assessor). In addition to his German law degrees, he holds a LL.M. in Energy and Environmental Law from Katholieke Universiteit (KU) Leuven in Belgium.
Ken has been a regular speaker on state aid in the energy sector.
