Amar Iqbal is a senior associate in the Real Estate Practice Group in the Birmingham office. Amar qualified as a solicitor in 2011.

    Amar has extensive experience in dealing with landlord and tenant, real estate finance and development work. Amar has successfully worked in private practice, and in-house with a PLC housebuilder, covering all aspects of commercial and residential development.

    • Acting for clients (from SMEs to FTSE 100 companies) in connection with new lettings, development lettings, lease renewals, under-lettings, assignments, licences, rent deposit, and tenancies at will and lease re-gears.
    • Dealing with agreements for leases conditional on works, planning and licensing.
    • Experience of negotiating capital contributions and turnover rent provisions.
    • Leading on all work connected with a shopping centre with circa 100 units for a FTSE 100 client.
    • Acting for major banks and borrowers on real estate finance work.
    • Dealing with utility and statutory providers in the setup of commercial and residential developments.

    • Providing instructions to panel solicitors on site acquisitions, development agreements, options, overage, conditional purchase and leasing contracts, legal charges, bonds and parent company guarantees.
    • Undertaking project work for the business and advising the CFO on terms of agreements.
    • Dealing with customer complaints.
    • Implementing GDPR from a property perspective by drafting policies, procedures and documentation.
    • Issuing mandates to the business on policies concerning points of law.
    • Drafting standard documentation for implementation across the business.
