Matej Jankovič focuses his practice on general corporate, M&A, competition and real estate matters.

He graduated from the Faculty of Law, Trnava University in Trnava, in 2014. In 2015 he successfully completed a Doctor of Law examination at the Faculty of Law, Trnava University in Trnava, where he received the juris doctor degree (JUDr.). In the academic year 2015/16 he completed his master’s at Tilburg University in the Netherlands, where he received the LL.M., with a specialization in “International Business Law” (focusing on European competition law, international company law, international business law, banking and securities regulation, corporate governance, legal negotiation, capital markets, private equity and “startup” ecosystem). Subsequently, in 2016 he completed a summer school at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf in Germany, with a specialization in European Business Law.

Prior to joining the firm, Matej worked for a leading law firm in the Slovak Republic. He drafted and reviewed legal documents, represented clients in litigations, provided legal opinions on diverse matters, conducted research on legal and related issues, and communicated with public authorities. He also gained experience during his internship at a local district court and an executor’s office.

Matej has experience with representing clients in the fields of real estate, road freight transport, agriculture, authorized automobile dealers, food industry, e-shop and other industries.


  • Advising a foreign embassy in the Slovak Republic in relation to its new compound in Bratislava.
  • Advising a Slovak subsidiary of a Greek food product manufacturing company on various real estate matters in connection with the future purchase of land and the planned construction of a new manufacturing plant (including extensive legal analysis, due diligence, preparation of contractual documentation, etc.).
  • Advising one of the world's largest retailers on leasehold acquisitions and sales in various Slovak cities for retail and warehousing purposes including advising on a broad range of real estate issues.
