Paul Kalish is a member of the Litigation team in the Washington DC office, where he concentrates his practice in insurance and reinsurance matters.

    Paul has represented members of the insurance and financial services industries for more than 30 years. In addition, since 2000, he has served as counsel for the Coalition for Litigation Justice, Inc., a group formed by insurers to address abuses and inequities in the current mass tort litigation environment.

    Since 2004, Paul has been recognized by clients and peers as a top lawyer in Chambers USA in the area of insurance. He has also been selected as a leader in insurance law in Best Lawyers In America, The Legal 500, Expert Guides and Super Lawyers.

    • Serving as national coverage counsel for insurers with regard to various tort (including pharmaceuticals, asbestos, silica, medical devices, talc, molestation, benzene and sports concussions) and environmental (including matters involving MTBE and perfluorinated chemicals, as well as the the TVA coal ash spill, Hurricane Katrina, a South American dam collapse and the Los Angeles natural gas leak) matters.
    • Representing insurers in Bermuda form international arbitrations.
    • Representing insurers and reinsurers in liquidation matters.
    • Representing insurers in putative class actions involving allegations of unfair claims handling practices in connection with the resolution of thousands of underlying claims.
    • Counseling insurers and captives with regard to new insurance products and policy wording.
