Louis Lee is an associate in our Litigation Practice, advising clients on a range of contentious matters predominately relating to commercial litigation and insolvency.

    Louis has strong advocacy experience, having represented clients before a range of courts and administrative tribunals. He is experienced in drafting a variety of documents for litigation proceedings and he has also managed large-scale discovery processes and represented clients in public examinations.

    • Acted for KPMG on a variety of litigation and insolvency matters.
    • Acted for the liquidator of Forge Group:
      • In relation to the public examinations of the officers and related parties of Forge.
      • In respect of an AU$187 million+ insider trading claim against Clough being litigated in the Supreme Court of WA.
    • Assisted solicitors for the Insurance Commission of WA in relation to proceedings against the liquidator of Bell Group Limited (in Liquidation) concerning the rejection of a proof of debt.
    • Advised the liquidators of Caratti entities in respect of an AU$200 million unpaid tax liability, including drafting Court documents for the purposes of obtaining an urgent injunction.
    • Advised the executor of a deceased estate on various aspects of the administration of an AU$5 million estate, including in relation to the associated litigation before the Supreme Court of WA.
    • Advised an international engineering company on the defence of an AU$4 million+ preference claim, including leading the discovery and investigation process.
    • Conducted three preference claims on behalf of the liquidator of Brierty Ltd, a civil and mining contractor, in respect of significant tax debts owed to the ATO.
    • Advised an electrical and communications contracting and construction company on the defence of an AU$600,000+ preference claim in the Supreme Court of WA.
    • Advised the landlord of a hotel premises in relation to construction disputes with a tenant, which proceeded to arbitration.
    • Advised Liberty Oil in relation to a dispute with a franchisee.
    • Advised a property developer in the ultimately successful settlement of a negligence claim against a global law firm.
    • Prepared various matters for litigation before the State Administrative Tribunal of WA.
    • Advised clients in relation to director penalty notices, garnishee notices, debt collection, enforcement proceedings, statutory demands, winding-up proceedings and bankruptcy notices.
    • Advised clients in relation to rights and obligations under various pieces of legislation, including the Income Tax Assessment Act 1936 (Cth) and Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (Cth), as well as various ATO practice statements.
    • Advised clients in relation to disputes and negotiations with the Australian Taxation Office, Office of State Revenue, state and local government bodies, creditors and the Financial Ombudsman Service.
