David Marella is an associate in the Corporate Practice. He has extensive experience in representing public and private companies, financial institutions and governmental agencies in connection with mergers and acquisitions, stock and asset purchase transactions, corporate governance matters, private equity and venture capital funding, credit facilities and cross-border transactions. David offers a unique understanding of the intersection between federal and state governments, business and the law.

In 2017, David received a presidential political appointment to serve in the leadership role of advisor to the Executive Director of the President’s Commission, serving in the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, a component of the Executive Office of the President. In that role, he advised Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey, as he chaired the bipartisan President’s Commission on Combatting Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis, which pursuant to an executive order was to study the scope and effectiveness of the federal response to the opioid crisis and to make recommendations to improve that response to President Donald J. Trump. Following his appointment, David was recognized for his successful service within the White House when he was named to the Forbes 2019 30 Under 30 Law & Policy list.

In 2019, David served in the first class of law clerks for the Honorable Paul B. Matey of the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Prior to his Honor’s confirmation to the court, David was an advisor to the judge throughout his US Senate confirmation proceedings.

Prior to joining the firm, David was a corporate associate in a regional law firm based in Newark, New Jersey.
