Michał Matysiak is a senior associate specialising in all aspects of technology, privacy, intellectual property and e-commerce law.

Michał has wide-ranging experience in handling transactional, regulatory and contractual matters relating to data protection (GDPR, ePrivacy and sectoral legislation), IT and IP agreements (transfer of rights, licensing and cloud computing), game dev (compliance and game publishing), e-commerce (terms and conditions, and consumer law), new technologies, cybersecurity and telecommunications.

In addition, Michał has experience in M&A transactions, where he advises on both technology-oriented issues (intellectual property and personal data) and strictly transactional matters (share and stock purchase agreements and all associated documentation).

  • Providing day-to-day legal support to a US multinational technology company that specialises in internet-related services and products, including online advertising technologies, a search engine, cloud computing, software and hardware. The advice covered a wide range of legal issues concerning the provision of electronic services, personal data protection and consumer rights, as well as the implementation of innovative projects (e.g. cloud gaming services).
  • Participating in projects regarding data protection and privacy, including preparing agreements, documentation and analyses, coordinating international projects concerning several jurisdictions and participating in them as counsel responsible for the Polish jurisdiction.
  • Providing legal support for the game dev and esport industry, including drafting and reviewing various types of agreements, reviewing terms and conditions for digital distribution platforms and cloud gaming services, preparing legal opinions (e.g. on exhaustion of copyrights in the case of digital keys) and due diligence in court proceedings.
  • Preparing opinions, agreements, and terms and conditions for a public telecommunications network operator and other entities in connection with telecommunications law and ICT security issues.
  • Involvement in a number of projects relating to the implementation of IT systems (including issues related to licences and service/maintenance).
  • Assisting clients in connection with e-commerce and services supplied electronically (including consumer protection law advice).
  • Involvement in M&A transactions representing sellers and buyers from different sectors, including advising on intellectual property and personal data issues, as well as transactional matters.
  • Drafting and reviewing a wide range of civil law and commercial contracts.
