Alexandra Morton


Alexandra joined the Pensions Practice Group as an associate in 2012, having trained with the firm.  During her training, she completed a four-month secondment at the Paris office.

She has experience of advising both individual and corporate trustees and sponsoring employers on a wide range of aspects of occupational pension plans including governance, legislative compliance, plan documentation and member queries relating to both defined benefit and defined contribution arrangements.


  • Advising the trustees of a large defined benefit pension plan on a restructuring of the plan, including a demerger of the plan and the establishment of a common investment fund.
  • Advising an employer on the merger of its three defined benefit pension plans into a single newly-established arrangement.
  • Advising an employer on a proposal to close its final salary pension plan to future accrual.
  • Advising the pension plan trustees on a proposed sale of the plan's principal employer and the resulting loss of a company guarantee.
  • Advising a group of individual trustees on the adoption of a corporate trustee structure for their pension plan.
  • Advising the trustees of a defined benefit pension plan on its position following the insolvency of the sponsoring employer and its transfer into the Pension Protection Fund.
  • Drafting pension plan documentation, including deeds of amendment, merger and demerger deeds and consolidated definitive trust deeds.
  • Advising on the impact of changes in legislation.
