Michael Muratore is a senior associate in our Corporate Practice in Sydney with both in-house and private practice experience across a wide range of corporate, commercial, intellectual property and technology matters. Michael has worked with early stage start-ups through to established multinationals in industries, including digital media, internet, telecommunications, financial services, software and technology, consumer goods and health.

    Michael assists clients with IT procurement, terms of use for websites and technology platforms, distribution and outsourcing agreements, data protection and privacy issues, and intellectual property and technology licensing arrangements. He also advises emerging growth and later stage companies on strategic financing, corporate transactional and shareholder governance matters, and assists offshore companies to establish Australian corporate structures.

    Michael has experience with all facets of brand protection, particularly the development of national and international trade mark strategies, and is jointly responsible for the firm’s Australian trade mark portfolio.

    • Acting for multinational IT providers on the supply, installation, maintenance and support of self-service transaction systems, point of sale payment processing systems to listed Australian banks. 
    • Assisting with the restructure of a privately held manufacturer and supplier of skin care products to the Australian and New Zealand markets, including the implementation of an effective intra-group licensing regime.
    • Acting for a software publisher on its procurement of an exclusive license to the intellectual property assets of the Australian Football League (AFL), National Rugby League (NRL) and Australian Rugby Union (ARU) for use in the development of licensed merchandise. 
    • Assisting an Australian telecommunications provider to successfully resolve its long standing trade mark disputes with a global media company and US-based telecommunications provider. 
    • Advising a US-based IT consulting firm on the establishment of its Australian operations, including adapting its existing suite of corporate and commercial documentation to comply with Australian legislation.
