Shamsun Nahar is a director in the Financial Services Practice specialising in derivatives and structured finance.

 

Shamsun’s practice focuses on providing the full range of transactional and regulatory advice relating to derivative products across all asset classes. She acts as the lead advisor on domestic and cross-border derivatives transactions involving derivatives, repos, margin loans and Islamic finance derivatives products.

Shamsun has extensive experience of working on high-value derivatives and structured finance transactions across a range of asset classes for a wide range of clients, including financial institutions, corporates and banks. This includes advising on the derivatives related to wider financing transactions, such as leveraged, project and infrastructure financing.

Shamsun also has substantial experience of working on financing matters, including leveraged finance, refinancing, asset-backed financing, restructuring and banking transactions.

Prior to joining the firm, Shamsun worked for a leading US firm in London, advising clients in the UK, the US, the Middle East and Asia, and has completed two secondments with leading international banks.

  • Advising major global banks and investment firms in relation to drafting, negotiating and completing numerous cross-border margin loan transactions over shares in various jurisdictions, including Europe, the US and the Middle East.*
  • Advising a leading investment fund on negotiating and completing a transaction in relation to its acquisition of a large portfolio of distressed debt from two leading European banks.*
  • Advising major Saudi Arabian banks and institutions on negotiating and completing various derivative trading transactions (including Islamic derivatives products), with leading global banks worldwide as counterparties.*
  • Advising major global banks, corporate borrowers, sponsors and investment firms on negotiating and completing various hedging transactions in relation to leveraged finance, infrastructure finance, project finance and Islamic finance transactions.*
  • Advising major global banks and investment firms in relation to drafting, negotiating and completing numerous cross-border bank bond, leveraged finance transactions in various jurisdictions.*
  • Advising a leading investment fund in relation to a holding company financing.*
  • Advising the shareholders of a national utility provider in relation to certain equity financing.*
  • Advising a committee of lenders, including major global banks, in relation to financial restructuring of a leading agricultural business in Ukraine.*
