Lesley Sachs’ represents corporations, senior management and employees in government enforcement and compliance matters. Such matters have included FCPA violations, healthcare fraud, qui tam and False Claims Act actions, US export and sanctions violations and violations of the US Safety Act. Lesley frequently conducts internal investigations and evaluates corporate compliance programs for clients. Lesley’s litigation and enforcement practice has encompassed commercial civil disputes, complex civil litigation, government investigations and white collar criminal defense.

    Lesley supported the independent monitor for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles US LLC appointed by the Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. She has experience advising automotive manufacturers and suppliers on compliance with federal motor vehicle safety laws and regulations.

    Lesley also supported the independent monitor appointed by the US Department of Education to oversee Zenith Education Group following its acquisition of the former Corinthian Colleges. In this role, she evaluated the enrollment practices of for-profit colleges for compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, accrediting institutions and Consent Order conduct provisions.

    Prior to attending law school, Lesley was a senior consultant with IBM Business Consulting Services advising federal government clients on finance, budgeting and operational improvement projects. While attending law school, she interned with the Federal Communications Commission and clerked with the FCC’s Office of the Commissioner.

    • On behalf of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, conducted a multi-year monitorship of an automaker’s compliance with federal motor vehicle safety laws and regulations, including obligations to promptly remedy defective vehicles and to establish a corporate culture of proactive vehicle safety.
    • Advised original equipment manufacturers and Tier 1 and 2 automotive suppliers on compliance with federal motor vehicle safety laws and regulations.
    • Conducted internal investigation into possible False Claims Act violations at a public university.
    • Defended senior executive against allegations of federal export control violations.
    • Represented corporation in suit against insurance broker for broker’s negligent procurement of Directors and Officers Liability Policies.
    • Defended pharmaceutical manufacturer against allegations of deceptive and fraudulent drug pricing brought by Attorneys General in several states.
