Eduard Salsas is a member of the firm’s International Dispute Resolution Practice in the Paris office. Eduard is a Spanish national and has worked in Spain, Germany, the UK and France.

    Eduard specialises in international arbitration and other international dispute resolution procedures.

    His expertise expands to international contractual relations between clients which are active in various different industries, such as energy and natural resources, telecommunications and construction.

    Eduard also advises sovereign states and foreign investors on procedures involving Bilateral Investment Treaties (BTI).

    Eduard works closely with members of our network on each continent to deliver diverse services to clients, ranging from contentious to non-contentious matters.

    His international double degree (law and economics), combined with his international experience, allows him to tackle his clients’ issues across the board.

    Eduard, therefore, offers global solutions to his clients.

    Eduard also acts as an arbitrator.

    Energy Arbitration

    • Advising a European gas buyer in an emergency arbitration, followed by “baseball” gas price arbitration in southern Europe under the ICC Rules relating to a long-term LNG supply contract.
    • Advising a European gas buyer in a gas price arbitration in six different European markets under the ICC Rules relating to a long-term LNG supply contract with a sum in dispute in excess of US$1 billion.
    • Advising a European gas buyer in a gas price arbitration in Southern Europe under the ICC Rules relating to a long-term pipeline gas contract with a disputed amount in excess of US$1.3 billion, which led to a favourable settlement.
    • Advising a European gas buyer in a gas price arbitration in Southern Europe under the ICC Rules relating to a long-term pipeline gas contract with a sum in dispute in excess of US$2 billion, which led to a favourable settlement.
    • Advising a European gas buyer in a gas price arbitration in Southern Europe under the ICC Rules relating to a long-term pipeline gas contract by successfully triggering a rebus sic stantibus clause. The disputed amount exceeded US$500 million. This led to a favourable decision.

    Investment Arbitration

    • Advising a sovereign North African state in an investment arbitration governed by the ICC Rules and a BIT, in relation to damaged construction projects following a civil war, for which the disputed amount exceeded US$190 million.
    • Advising a sovereign North African state in an investment arbitration governed by the ICC Rules, the OIC Treaty and a BIT in relation to damaged construction projects following a civil war, for which the disputed amount exceeded US$69 million.
    • Advising a sovereign North African state in an investment arbitration governed by the ICC Rules, the OIC Treaty and a BIT in relation to damaged construction projects following a civil war, for which the disputed amount exceeded US$60 million.
    • Advising a sovereign African state in an investment arbitration governed by the ICC Rules in relation to a project to build a free trade zone, for which the disputed amount exceeded US$39 million. The foreign investor eventually withdrew all of its claims.
    • Advising a foreign investor against a sovereign Latin American state in an arbitration in relation to a construction project, for which the disputed amount exceeded US$2 million dollars.
