India Scarver is an associate in the firm’s Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice, where she provides guidance on a wide range of data privacy and cybersecurity issues facing clients handling personal data. India works with businesses in the retail, manufacturing, media and entertainment, automotive and healthcare industries, as well as organizations in the non-profit sector.

    India also works with clients to develop and implement practical solutions for information governance. She works closely with clients to identify and analyze risk, develop appropriate controls, draft privacy and security policies and statements, prepare and test incident response plans, and negotiate vendor agreements from a data protection perspective.

    India obtained her Master’s in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies in conjunction with her law degree, and volunteers her time serving low-income clients in debt collection, domestic relations and landlord-tenant cases.

    • Seconded with a client for several months to provide advice on various General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance matters.
    • Served as counsel for clients responding to significant data breaches in a wide range of industries, including, but not limited to, manufacturing, nonprofit, political and retail.
    • Advised numerous clients on updating privacy policies and external-facing privacy statements to comply with applicable data protection laws, including GDPR.
    • Assisted various clients with developing robust and practical incident response plans.
    • Conducted exercises onsite with client to test incident response plan and related procedures.
    • Assisted automotive manufacturer with various data privacy issues, including, but not limited to, connected-car services and electronic data recorder collection and use.
    • Advised healthcare client regarding privacy issues concerning minors’ protected health information.
