Madeleine Smith is an associate in our Labour & Employment Practice Group. She advises clients on a wide range of employment law matters, including the application of employment-related and workplace safety and health legislation and case law, as well as employment-related disputes.

    In addition to employment law, Madeleine is a Registered Migration Agent (MARN 1912154) and assists our Business Immigration Practice Group in advising clients on employment and skilled visas.

    Madeleine has also completed a six-month rotation in our Corporate Practice Group.

    Madeleine regularly contributes to Workplace View, the firm’s Australian employment newsletter for clients/contacts, and Global Edge, the firm’s subscription-based labour and employment information portal.

    • Reviewing and drafting employment-related agreements and deeds.
    • Assisted with advising clients on unfair dismissal and adverse action claims.
    • Assisted with advising on a complex litigious dispute involving untried safety law.
    • Assisted with advising clients on obligations under anti-discrimination and equal-opportunity law.
    • Assisted with advising clients on workplace investigations.
    • Secondment role at a corporate client, advising on a range of commercial agreements and matters.
