    In his current and previous roles, Simon has advised some of the world’s best-known companies, including global brands in the retail, leisure and logistics sector. Simon has also advised public and private healthcare organisations, including NHS Trusts.

    • Regularly advising major retailers, logistics providers, public bodies and other companies in the defence tribunal claims brought against them by current and former employees, including claims for unfair dismissal, discrimination and whistleblowing. Experience includes:
      • Acting for a private healthcare provider in relation to a claim for constructive dismissal and age discrimination brought by a senior member of support staff.
      • Acting for a global brand in relation to claims of unfair dismissal and disability discrimination brought by a former employee following dismissal on grounds of ill-health capability.
      • Acting for large public body in relation to claims of unfair dismissal arising from a complex disputed TUPE transfer following a re-tendering of services.
    • Providing advice to the HR and operational managers of a major companies on various issues, including the management of grievances, disciplinaries and absence, including:
      • Advising a major logistics provider on the dismissal of an employee who had been accused of sexual harassment by several colleagues.
      • Advising a global brand on the conduct-related dismissal of a manager with alcohol and substance abuse problems.
      • Advising a large national company on the dismissal of a senior employee for alleged falsification of professional accreditation.
      • Advising a global brand on managing the absence of an employee with a serious mental health condition, including their obligations under the Equality Act 2010.
      • Reviewing and drafting contracts, policies / procedures and staff handbooks to ensure suitability and compliance with UK law.
    • Advising and acting for organisations and senior individuals in relation to settlement negotiations and on settlement agreements.
