Radek Váňa has more than 20 years of experience working in a number of emerging and Western markets, combining a top-tier professional background and an executive in-house career.

Radek worked for seven years as a senior associate at a leading international law firm; first in Prague, and later in London and Amsterdam. Prior to joining the firm, he was the head of M&A at a global multinational law firm in the Czech Republic.

Radek spent almost 10 years as a legal executive in major international corporates, which gives him a unique understanding of the business side of legal work. He was the general counsel of an international lottery group, where he was mainly responsible for M&A and capital market transactions in the Czech Republic, Western Europe and the Balkans. Before that, he worked in London and Almaty, Kazakhstan, as the chief international counsel at an FTSE 250 constituent, where he was responsible for the group’s M&A and other activities in Central Asia, Russia, Europe and China.

Radek’s experience in the Czech Republic includes a variety of high-profile M&A transactions across a range of industries. Recently, he advised a Czech export agency in connection with its €5 billion COVID-19 rescue programme for local companies.

Outside the CEE region, he served as the lead international counsel on many large cross-border projects, including the acquisition of the dominant sports-betting operator in Croatia, the acquisition and disposal of the largest power plant in Kazakhstan, an IPO in Hong Kong, the disposal of a German copper-processing plant and the acquisition of a Dutch group manufacturing AdBlue.
